Features

Themed Shop Inventories

Use focus filters to create specific shop types — potion shops, weapon smiths, magic item dealers, general stores, and more.

Official Treasure Budgets

Merchant stock is balanced using GM Core Table 10-9, with four budget tiers: Scraps, Minor, Standard, and Hoard.

5,600+ Items

Draws from every published PF2e item — weapons, armor, consumables, held items, worn items, materials, runes, and more.

Lock & Regenerate

Lock items you want to keep in the shop, then regenerate to fill remaining slots. Build inventories incrementally.

Trait & Rarity Filters

Filter by traits, rarity (common, uncommon, rare), and content source (Remaster/Legacy) for precise control.

Save & Reuse

Save generated inventories to your browser. Revisit them later or use generation history to recall previous results.

How to Generate a Merchant Inventory

  1. Set your party level — The generator adjusts item levels and budget accordingly.
  2. Select Merchant Inventory mode — This uses budgeting optimized for in-town shopping.
  3. Choose a budget tier — Minor for a small shop, Standard for a well-stocked store, Hoard for a major trading post.
  4. Apply focus filters — Want a potion shop? Select Consumables. A weapon smith? Select Weapons & Armor.
  5. Generate and refine — Lock items you like, regenerate the rest until the shop feels right.

Shop Ideas

Potion Shop

Set focus to Consumables and filter for the Alchemical or Potion trait. Great for a village apothecary.

Weapon Smith

Set focus to Permanent items and filter for Weapon traits. Add fundamental runes for a higher-level smith.

Magic Emporium

Use Standard or Hoard budget with Permanent focus. Filter for Uncommon rarity to stock rare finds.

General Store

Set focus to Mundane for everyday adventuring gear — rope, rations, tools, and basic equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the merchant generator work?

Set your party level and the generator creates a level-appropriate shop inventory using official PF2e treasure budgets. Items are drawn from over 5,600 published items and balanced for your party.

Can I create specific shop types?

Yes. Use focus filters to generate themed inventories — consumables for a potion shop, permanent items for a weapon smith, mundane items for a general store. Combine with trait filters for even more control.

Is the inventory level-appropriate?

Yes. The generator uses official treasure budgets from GM Core Table 10-9 to ensure items match your party level. Higher-level parties see higher-level items.

Can I customize the generated inventory?

Yes. Lock any items you want to keep, then hit generate again to fill the remaining slots. This lets you curate the perfect shop inventory step by step.

Does it include remaster content?

Yes. Toggle between Remaster and Legacy content. Includes items from Player Core, GM Core, Rage of Elements, Howl of the Wild, War of Immortals, and all other published sources.

What should a shop sell based on settlement size?

GM Core suggests settlements limit available item levels. A village might stock up to level 2-3, a town up to level 5-6, a city up to level 9-10, and a metropolis up to party level. Set the party level to match your settlement.

Can players buy uncommon or rare items?

By default, only common items are available for purchase. Uncommon and rare items require GM permission or story reasons. The generator lets you toggle rarity filters to include or exclude them based on your campaign.

How do I price items in a PF2e shop?

PF2e items have fixed prices in their stat blocks — no haggling mechanic by default. The generator shows each item with its official price. GMs can adjust for narrative reasons, but the listed price is the baseline.

How often should I refresh a merchant's inventory?

A common approach is to refresh stock when the party levels up or returns to town after a significant absence. The generator makes it easy to create fresh inventories whenever you need them.

Should shops sell consumables like potions and scrolls?

Yes — consumables are a core part of the PF2e economy. Healing potions, antidotes, scrolls, and talismans should be commonly available. Use the Consumables focus filter to stock a shop with primarily consumable items.
